As you may have heard by now, Mrs. Bischoff, a Kindergarten teacher here at Cohasset, passed away after a hard fought battle with lung cancer, Friday morning in the company of family and friends. I’m writing this post today to update you with plans in place for our school community.
As a staff we are meeting before school to talk more about how we can help our students through this difficult time. We will have a lot of extra support staff available, especially Monday but also throughout the week. Please let us know if you child needs some of that extra time and support.
I know that many of you may also have questions, would like to pass along a message to Jackie’s family, or just need a place to stop and share memories of Jackie. We have set up a “gathering” room at the school for staff and families. We’ve moved the coffee machine down and are stocking it with snacks. If you feel like bringing in comfort food, please do! My oldest daughter and I are making bread and caramel rolls today to bring in. We are also putting out cards for people to sign as well as rolling out a banner for our kids to sign throughout the day.
Although our hearts our heavy and sad, I know Jackie would want us to celebrate her life. Jackie was great at many things, one such thing was giving us “dress up day” ideas. In honor of Jackie and her family, the entire week will be Team Bisch Week. Monday will be GREEN & WHITE day in honor of Jackie’s hometown, Greenway. Tuesday will be ORANGE & BLACK Day , in honor of her passion for Grand Rapids, and Wednesday, our regular Team Bisch day, will be BLUE & GOLD Day, in honor of Jackie’s love for Cohasset Elementary School.
Finally I’d like to share information from the family in regards to Jackie’s Visitation and funeral. Jackie’s visitation will be Monday night from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, MN and will continue at the church Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. until the 4:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial.

I thank you again for your time, help, and support as our school community works together through this most difficult time. If you have any questions please call: 218.327.5860. As I mentioned earlier, our staff will be in a meeting until around 8:00 and then I will be available for any questions you should have. As always, we invite you to stop in if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
