This post is a little bit longer than normal, so please bear with me. I’ve got a ton of great information to share!

I wanted to update you on Cohasset Elementary’s Open House and Fall Fundraiser. The event takes place this Thursday, September 22nd from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. We invite you in to visit your child’s classroom and meet with their teacher. We know that many of you were able to make it the week before school started, so we’ve got even more fun and great food in store.
Part of the event is a fundraiser, as a parent I know that I myself cringe when I hear that word. Please know that the fund raising portion of our night isn’t our main purpose and we’ve done our best to have those areas set aside so that if you choose to, you are more than welcome to visit them. Fund raising is an unfortunate reality of education right now but the great thing about Thursday is that there are a bunch of options that raise money for our school without our students having to do anything! There will be over a dozen local vendors who have agreed to donate a portion of purchases made that night to our school. Some of the vendors include: Tike’s Meats, The Rug Shop, Tastefully Simple, The Pampered Chef, Checkered Past Antiques, Lillians, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Three Bears Candy Company, Discovery Toys, Up North Kettle Corn, Bixby’s Cafe, Schwan’s, BellaBeads, Stampin’ Up, and Cowhorn Crossing. We’ll also have pizza available from LMNO Pizza for purchase along with pop and ice cream. We could still use 2 liter bottles of pop. If you are able to donate, please drop them off in the school office.
We have also partnered with Tom Clausiu’s of Grand Rapids. They will have vehicles on hand to test drive. Clusiau’s/Chrysler’s will donate $10 for every person that test drives one of their vehicles at our openhouse. You heard right. They will donate $10 just for taking a five minute test drive around the block! There is no limit on the money we can raise and there is no pressure or obligation to buy. You simply have to bring a valid driver’s license and fill out their insurance sheet. Forest Lake Elementary was able to raise over $600 and the GRHS band raised a few thousand dollars.
ANYONE CAN ATTEND!!!!
I hope you are able to attend. I continue to be impressed with the staff and families at Cohasset Elementary School. This is such a wonderful option, as a parent I’m so happy our school continues to look for fund raising options that don’t require our students to go door to door.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
